In reading this week we will focus on the essential question: What choices are good for us? We will work on the skills of asking and answering questions, point of view, and root words.
In math we are working on fractions. We will work on determining the numerator and denominator and look at fractions on a number line. We will also be in our last week of our multiplication memorization. Even though it is the last week please still continue to practice multiplication facts at home, especially the 6,7,8 facts, it is so helpful!! Here are the facts for the week: 4x3=12, 2x9=18, 5x7=35, 8x6=48, 4x4=16, 5x2=10.
Coming home in Tuesday folders this week you will get a note about a fun Winter Olympics Reading Challenge. This is optional, but will encourage the kids to read every night and record their minutes. At the end of the month the kiddos in each class who have the top 3 most minutes will receive a prize, just like gold, silver, and bronze in the Olympics.
The kids seemed to like the chance to do alternate spelling centers last week, so we will try it again this week.
