The last week of school already! How!!?? This year has just flow! We have a fun filled last week of school! We will still be doing some fun math activities as well as wrapping up some Mystery Science. I will no longer be paying for planners as of Wednesday, as Tuesday is our last buy in.
The last week of school we have our Sportsmanship wiffle ball tournament. This is such a fun opportunity to show how kind and supportive we can be! We will get to play Mrs. Gray's class and Mrs. Blakeley's class this week. During our games I will be watching for kiddos who are showing wonderful sportsmanship and kindness. Then on Thursday afternoon the kids will get to vote on for one student that they felt really showed great sportsmanship throughout the entire year. That kiddo will get to play in the student vs. teacher game on Friday morning! We will be cleaning out our desks and cubbies this week so please make sure your child has their backpack each day. On Friday dismissal is at 11:45! Wow, what a year! I just want to thank all of you for sharing your wonderful kiddos with me! I loved getting to share my pregnancy with them and that will always give me special memories! I will have so many fun stories to share will Eleanor as she gets older! Summer is a great time to get some reading in and practice multiplication and division facts to prepare for 4th grade! I hope to see many of you next year and look forward to watching this kiddos learn and grow for a couple more years! I loved teaching your children!! Code Word: Last Week of School! We had a great week of testing last week! The kids worked really hard and hopefully really showed what they learned in 3rd grade! You will get these results next fall. We also had a ton of fun during Field Day last week. Check out the "Photos" tab for some pictures. It was also fun to have so many siblings as Iron Eagles running each station! :) On Friday the kids gave me the sweet photo/memory book they made for me and is was so sweet and thoughtful! I love all the photos and kind words! Thank you so much to everyone who contributed! Thank you also for the TJ Maxx gift card and flowers! You are all so thoughtful! In reading this week we will be focusing on the essential question: Why are goals important? We will work on the skills of rereading, problem and solution, and greek and latin roots. In writing we will be working on writing thank you notes. In math this week we are finishing up our chapter on geometry. We will be relating shapes to fractions and reviewing and then taking our chapter test. In science we will continue our Mystery Science unit about animals and heredity. We will have a few fun events this week with viewing the 5th grade black light show and the Ben Steele Choir. I hope you all have/had a great weekend! We are headed to Helena for a family wedding and Eleanor gets to be the flower girl! :) Upcoming Events May
Code Word: Rain *It is supposed to rain most of the week so please make sure your kiddo has rain gear so we can go outside! Thank you! Wow! I can't believe how quickly 3 months went!! I absolutely loved being home with Eleanor, it is crazy how much she has grown and changed in 3 months! I am excited to see you all again and just so impressed with Miss Stapleton and everything she has done with you! It was such a relief to know you were in such great hands! I also want to thank you all for the sweet notes on why I am the best mother for Eleanor! You are all so sweet and I loved them!! They totally made my day! This week we have Smarter Balance testing Monday-Thursday morning from 8:30-10:30. Please try to get a good night sleep and have a good breakfast in the morning! This is our last bit of testing we have to do! You have all been such rockstars with all the testing!
With testing we will not be doing a normal reading week. In math this week we will continue geometry and learn about different quadrilaterals and triangles. I am so happy with your progress on ST Math, we will continue to try to reach our goal of 100% by the end of the year. In science this week we are going back to Mystery Science. We will start a unit on animal survival and heredity. Friday is field day. We will be outside from 9:00-11:00. Please bring or wear sunscreen. I'd also love for you to bring a change of clothes in case we end at a water station, that way you won't be wet all day. :) It will be a fun way to end the week. I'd like to wish all the mom's a Happy Mother's Day. Being a mom is such a wonderful thing and I'm so excited to spend my first Mother's Day with Eleanor! See you Monday! I can't believe it's already been 3 months and my time with these amazing third graders has come to an end. I want to say another huge thank you to all of you for sharing your wonderful children with me and making me feel so welcomed at Arrowhead. This has been such fun experience and I will forever be grateful for the memories that I have gotten to share with your kiddos.
I am very excited to say that I will be returning to Arrowhead next year to teach Kindergarten! :) So I look forward to seeing and staying in touch with everyone in the following school year! Have a wonderful last three weeks of school! I will miss you all! Miss Stapleton I am feeling a bit teary-eyed as I am writing this... Thank you so much for the book of memories with your sweet kiddos. That was so touching and means so much me! I feel unbelievably blessed to have been able to spend the last few months with the most amazing children and their wonderful families. Arrowhead truly is such a special place and I am so grateful that I have gotten to be a part of it. Again, THANK YOU! :)
We wrapped up NWEA testing this week and it was very exciting to see so many kiddos meet/exceed their goals for the Spring. They worked super hard and I am very proud of them. For anybody who was absent or did not finish their tests, we will be having a make-up day on Monday for them to complete those. This week in reading we will be focusing on the essential question: How can weather affect us? We will continue fine-tuning our predictions skills as well as identifying the theme of a text. In writing we will will continue with an opinion piece that we have been working on where we have focused on strong vocabulary and the inclusion of figurative language. These kids are rocking their opinion writing pieces! In math we will be focusing on polygons and describing their sides and angles. Our goal as we finish out these last few weeks is to reach 100% syllabus progress on ST math by the end of the school year! We already have 3 kiddos who have met that goal. SO AWESOME! Please encourage kids to work on ST math at home if they are struggling with this goal. It will increase their percentage! In science we will combine what we know about simple machines, and the kids will be creating their own compound machines! This has been a super fun project and I think that we are all excited to see the end result. On Wednesday we will celebrate our reading stamina progress by having a "Reading Camp Out"! Kids can feel free to bring a sleeping bag or blanket as well as a pair of comfy slippers! We will spend the day have rich novel discussions, identifying themes, main ideas, making inferences, etc. We've worked very hard to improve read-to-self stamina over the last few weeks so it will be lots of fun to celebrate their success! This will be my last week with this awesome bunch and although I am awfully sad to be leaving, I am so excited that Mrs. Gleason will be back and get to see how much these kids have grown. My last day will be Friday, May 10th and Mrs. Gleason will return on Monday, May 13th. Again, thank you for trusting me with your fabulous children! I will miss them so much! I'm looking forward to a great last week! I hope everyone has a wonderful 3-day weekend. :) Miss Stapleton Wow! You all did a fantastic job at the Wax Museum!! I am SO proud of you!! I had so much fun getting to see you and see all your hard work! I truly was very impressed! I miss you all! I can't believe how fast the time has gone, I'll be back in two weeks! Good luck this week at the musical. My hope is to come watch that as well! Have a great week!
Love, Mrs. Gleason Wow! What a fun week! Thank you to everyone who came to our Wax Museum today. The kids had lots of fun and did an AWESOME job!! Thank you for all of your help from home as well. We could not have done this without your support.
We have wrapped up Wax Museum just in time for a week of NWEA testing. This week we will test on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Testing will begin around 8:45 each morning and should take about 90 minutes each. We will be allowing students to chew gum during tests, which I will provide. However they were told that they could bring their own if they really wanted to. :) On Wednesday morning from 8:45-9:15 we will have the 3rd grade musical in the gym. Please join us! Because of the musical performances on Wednesday we will not test on that day. We will take a break from Wonders this week in reading and focus on some more review and enriching concepts. We will not have a spelling test this week. In math we will review chapter 11 and take our chapter test on Wednesday. We have had one busy week and onto the next!! Thank you for your continuous support at home. You truly have some awesome kiddos. It's making me awfully sad to think that this will be my last 2 weeks with them. They have made these past few months so much fun! Enjoy the weekend! Miss Stapleton Upcoming Events April

Hello all! I hope that everyone had a wonderful spring break. We have a busy week ahead of us!! We will have Wax Museum dress rehearsals on Tuesday and Thursday from 12:45-1:15. Please have students bring their costumes and props with them for these days! They are more than welcome to leave them at school so that they do not have to worry about bringing everything back and fourth. We will have our official Wax Museum presentations on Friday morning from 8:30-9:30. Parents/grandparents/friends are welcome to join us at anytime in the hour! We can't wait for you to see all of the hard work that these kids have put into this project! For reading this week will will continue with last week's essential question: How do you decide what is important? We will continue practicing making, confirming, and revising predictions throughout our reading as well as continuing to identify theme. Students are well on their way to earning their reading stamina camp out in a couple of weeks! Keep up the hard work!! This is something that can also be practiced at home. In math we will be taking a little break from chapter 11 to focus on some concepts that will be touched on in their upcoming NWEA tests. We will be focusing on two-dimensional shapes this week. As we near the end of the month we will continue working toward the 90% syllabus progress goal in ST math. So many kiddos have made a TON of progress towards that goal in these past few weeks. That is awesome!!! Next Week: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday will be NWEA testing days. Coming to Arrowhead this week!!! (See below) Upcoming Events

All About Me
This school year will mark my seventh year of teaching and I must say I am so blessed to be a part of such a great community at Arrowhead school. I am excited to begin a new year with a wonderful group of kids!! I grew up in Helena and attended college in Bozeman, MT at MSU. Go Bobcats! While there I obtained a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Reading. In 2016 I received a masters degree in Education Leadership. Six years ago I married my high school sweetheart, Tymon. We also have a five year old adorable mini australian shepherd puppy, Molly. This year we are also welcoming our first child in February and we are so excited to be parents! When I am not teaching I love to be outside enjoying hiking trails or taking in a sporting event. CategoriesArchives
