Report cards will go home in Tuesday folders. With report cards I will also be sending a short parent questionnaire with an area for you to write down any questions or concerns you have for me. If you could send those back on Wednesday that would be wonderful, that way I can try and be prepared with answers for you at your conference!
We have conferences this week starting Tuesday morning through Thursday evening. Please try to be on time as many conferences are scheduled back to back. There will be an early release Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at noon so that we can conduct conferences.
Just a quick note on report cards...don't be too concerned when you see 1's on your kiddo's report card at this point in the year. We don't expect mastery until the end of the year, so we will be working all year to master these standards, especially in reading. With that said, I am happy to discuss any concerns you do have at conferences. :)
This week in reading we are trying to answer the essential question: Why do people immigrate to new places? We are also working on the skills of predicting, understanding the theme or lesson of stories, and finding and understanding similes. In writing we will work on singular and plural nouns.
In math we are learning to multiply by 7's and 8's, we will also learn the associative property of multiplication (multiplying by 3 factors).
On Monday we are doing a fun Halloween STEM activity in the afternoon called Bone Bridge, it should be fun and really challenge our brains!!
