Holy cow! I can't believe that it is the last week of school! This year went by WAY too fast! I just want you all to know how much I have loved teaching your kiddos. I've said it many times, but this is a very special group and one that I will never forget!
We have a busy last week of school! During the last week we participate in a sportsmanship based wiffle ball tournament. Each class gets to play two wiffle ball games during the week and as we play we are looking for students who show the best sportsmanship, on and off the field. At the end of the week the kids will vote on who they felt has showed the best sportsmanship not only while playing wiffle ball, but also throughout the year. That student will get to play in the students vs. teachers game on the last day of school. Please make sure your kiddo has gym shoes with them on the days we play. Here is our schedule:
- Tuesday 9:30 vs. Mrs. Risser's class
- Wednesday 9:30 vs. Mrs. Gray's class
- Friday 9:00 Students vs. Teachers (just one student from our class)
The kids have also requested another silent auction. About half the class wanted to participate. So if your kiddo wants to participate they can bring in an item (toy, book, puzzle, etc.) that they no longer use and we will have a silent auction with their classroom money on Wednesday, May 31st.
This week we will finish the PLTW simple machines animal rescue device and present it. We will also finish and present a reader's theater. I will still put pictures and video's from this up after we present so please check back later in the week to see those.
We will be cleaning out desks and cubbies on Thursday and taking everything home. This might not be the best day for riding bikes, as their backpacks are usually pretty heavy! Please still have them bring their backpack on Friday though so that they can bring a snack and take home report cards. We also have yearbooks for those who ordered them and those will be given out on Wednesday. Wednesday we will also celebrate Colton's summer birthday.
11:45 Dismissal for the last day of school!
Over the summer please keep working on multiplication and division facts to help the kids be ready for 4th grade. ST Math will also be open to them all summer and they can work through the rest of their 3rd grade curriculum. Also, if you are looking for ways to practice, check out this Common Core Sheets for printable math worksheets linked to the standards. This would be a great way to practice math and avoid the summer slide. If you still have any of their Go Math workbooks that would also be a wonderful way to practice. Also, it is so important to make sure your kiddo reads over the summer as well. It should be similar to the school year, at least 15 minutes a day!
With that, it has been quite a year! Thank you for checking the blog and for being such wonderful, supportive parents! I truly get sad thinking of not seeing these kids everyday, they are so fun, kind, caring, honest, respectful, and hilarious! We shared so many wonderful memories this year. Each year they become a part of my heart. As a teacher you are so invested in their lives for a year and then they move on and become everything to another teacher, which is how it should be, but with that said, please come back and visit! I love to hear how they are doing and still have a connection to their life. With their character, I know they are going to grow up and become amazing people, they already are! I love each of them and will miss them dearly! Ugh, ok enough tears (on my part at least) :). Have such a wonderful summer, enjoy every second! Lots of love!
