On Friday we finished inquiry presentations for our overfishing inquiry. All the videos are under the "student work" tab.
In morning meeting this week we are reading about how Superflex can defeat One-Sided Sid and the Unwonderer. Have your kiddo tell you about these two Unthinkables.
This week during reading we will still be looking in to the essential question: What ideas can we get from nature? We will focus on the skills of summarizing, main idea and key details, and root words. On Wednesday we will take the SRI test, which is a reading inventory test. We took it at the beginning of the year and now we are looking to see growth as we near a half way point in the school year. In writing we are working on our opinion pieces. We will be working on editing, final drafts, and hopefully sharing with author's chair by Friday.
In math this week we will focus on practicing division with dividing by 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8. We will also continue our 3rd week of multiplication practice. Here are the facts for this week: 6x7=42, 4x9=36, 9x8=72, 3x8=24, 2x6=12, 5x6=30.
On Tuesday we will head to the gym to watch 4th and 5th graders compete in the geography bee. This is a fun chance to see an opportunity to look forward to in 4th and 5th grade.
I love to come and watch the kiddos sports and recitals, I've told the kids though it helps to have the game time and place written down for me so that I can try and make it!
