This week in reading we are focusing on the essential question: How is each event in history unique? We will focus on the skills of summarizing, sequencing, and suffixes. In writing this week we will work on a quick informational paragraph about what our lives would be like without computers. This would be a fun conversation to have at home as well!
I am trying something different in spelling this week. On Monday we always take a pre-test and if your kiddo misses zero or one word then they have the option of choosing alternate centers during the week when we would normally do a spelling center. The alternate centers will be more challenging, for example learning about analogies or similes and metaphors. They will also not have to take the test at the end of the week if they missed zero or one word. We'll try this for a couple weeks and see how it goes. :)
In math this week we are finishing up chapter 7 on practicing division. We will finish up with 2-step story problems and learning a little bit about order of operations. We will take the chapter 7 test on Wednesday. We will then start into fractions! We begin with learning about equal parts of a whole and unit fractions. Our multiplication facts to memorize for the week are: 2x4=8, 7x7=49, 5x8=40, 7x9=63, 6x6=36, 3x6=18. Please still practice facts from previous weeks as they show up on the quizzes each day as well!
