This week in reading we will be looking into the question: what can traditions teach you about cultures? We will still be working on the strategy of visualizing as we read, we will also work on using context clues and think about the sequence of events in a story. In writing and grammar we will work on command and exclamation sentences and we will finish up our friendly letters and mail them off. Later in the week we will also start a personal narrative, or story about something that has happened in their life.
In math this week we will take our chapter 1 test on Monday. Then we will start into chapter 2, which is all about graphing. This week we will work on reading and making picture graphs and bar graphs. During math this week we will also have ST Math (spacial temporal) Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This is a new math program our school is using this year and we will have it for 30 minutes 3 days a week. We started on Friday and the kids really seemed to love it!
In social studies this week we are learning about where in the world our community is, and in science we are learning about the forces of flight.

We are still collecting items for the Saturday Live basket if you would like to donate. I would love to have the items in by Tuesday, September 20th so that my helper can have time to put them together in a basket. Then join us on Saturday at the auction at Pioneer Park at noon! It is a fun event!! Remember all the proceeds come back to our school! Here is a look at what we have so far for our basket.
