In reading this week we are taking a few days to finish up our unit 2 inquiry projects. This unit the kids are writing a script and performing a short skit. We will hopefully be ready to present by Friday. We are also starting unit 3: The Shape of the Land. During this unit the kids will look into the theme question: How does geography shape a community? This week we will be focusing on the skills of questioning, paraphrasing, and multiple meaning words.
In writing this week we are starting a report. We will look in to how a report should be structured and the kids will choose from researching either a natural disaster such as a hurricane or tornado, or a famous landmark such as the Grand Canyon.
In math this week we will start with a review of chapter 3, then we will take the chapter 3 test on Tuesday. The rest of the week we are learning how to multiply by the factors of 2, 4, 5, 10, 3, and 6. We will learn strategies for how to multiply by each of these, and then we will begin memorizing them. At school we will be making flash cards to practice with, and by the end of the week it will be a great time to start practice just those factors at home as well.
In social studies we are starting a unit learning about the Native American tribes in Montana. In science we are learning about powered and unpowered aircrafts as well as the 3 main parts of a glider.
Upcoming Events:
- Wednesday is officially Veteran's Day but we are celebrating it on Monday at Arrowhead School. Our 4th and 5th grade general music students will perform a program for parents and veterans at 9:00am. Let's honor our Veterans by wearing red, white, and blue on MONDAY and donate $1 to Warriors and Quiet Waters (WQW) in Bozeman.
On Thursday we had an awesome assembly from Supaman. Quite a few of the kids were able to participate with him through dance or singing, it was pretty cool. He also had a wonderful message to be happy, kind, and respectful and to love ourselves!!
