In reading this week we are starting a new unit called Extreme Environments. I also love this unit and the kids tend to love it as well. We will learn all about different animal adaptations and how they survive in extreme environments. This week we will focus on the skills of asking and answering questions, multiple meaning words, comparing and contrasting, and compound words.
In writing we will still be finishing up our hero projects in preparation for the Wax Museum on Friday, March 18th. Our hero projects are coming along nicely! The kids worked hard on them all week. We will be working on their posters next week in class and they are able to print one picture of their person here at school, but I told them if they would like more pictures to see if they can print from home. Most of the kids are just finishing up their rough drafts of their reports, getting going on their final drafts and then writing their speeches. Once they have written their speeches I will send a copy home for them to practice at home as well. Here are a couple pictures of last years wax museum just to give you ideas for costumes.
In science this week we will be learning about compound machines.
