Week of March 29th

3/24/2016

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Easter and a great couple days off school! I can't believe we are in 4th quarter already, time sure flies (I hope your kiddo identified that as an idiom)!! Thursday was the last day of 3rd quarter and report cards will go home on Friday, April 1st.

Remember there is no school on Monday, March 28th.

In reading this week we will revisit both stories from this unit.  We will focus on the skills of comparing and contrasting, making connections, identifying main idea and supporting details, noun suffixes, analyzing idioms and identifying multiple meaning words. In writing this week we will continue working on our compare and contrast paragraphs as well as begin a small unit on poetry.  During our poetry unit we will be learning to write a cinquain and diamante.

In math this week we will learn about mass with grams and kilograms, we will also continue working on telling time and elapsed time.  At the end of the week we will take a small quiz on time, capacity, and mass.  Then Friday we will start learning about perimeter.

In science we are working on building our animal rescue device to rescue our tiger from the moat (it all goes with a little story).

Upcoming Events:
  • March 28: No school
  • April 1st: Report Cards go home

    All About Me

This school year will mark my sixth year of teaching and I must say I am so blessed to be a part of such a great community at Arrowhead school. I am excited to begin a new year with a wonderful group of kids!! I grew up in Helena and attended college in Bozeman, MT at MSU. Go Bobcats!  While there I obtained a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Reading.  In 2016 I received a masters degree in Education Leadership. Five years ago I married my high school sweetheart, Tymon. We also have a four year old adorable mini australian shepherd puppy, Molly. When I am not teaching I love to be outside enjoying hiking trails or taking in a sporting event.
