Wow, this week flew by! I had a very interesting time at the high school and I learned a lot, but I was very happy to be back with all my little kiddos! The kids had a ton of fun at the Valentine's day party, check out some pictures under the "Photos" tab. I would also like to thank all the parent volunteers who came and helped and a big thanks to Addison's mom, Karen, for planning it! I had a blast too!
Remember there is no school on Monday. I hope everyone had/has a wonderful Valentine's day weekend!
In reading this week we will continue learning about heroes. This week we will read about everyday heroes and continue adding to our list of hero qualities. We will focus on the skills of generalizing and making inferences. This week we will also start researching the heroes that the kids chose for their reports. One thing we discussed last week is that the person they pick can't just be their favorite athlete or a famous person, they need to have done something that makes them a hero, they must have hero qualities.
In math this week we will continue practicing order of operations. We will then review all of chapter 7 and take our chapter 7 test. This week we will also finish up our multiplication memorization with Week 6. Here are the week 6 facts to practice: 4x3=12, 2x9=18, 5x7=35, 8x6=48, 2x5=10. After this week we will have hit all the facts 2 through 9. The kids are doing an awesome job, but they still need continued practice at home to keep their skills up!
In science this week we will finish up our wheel and axle designs and start building another simple machine, the inclined plane.
Homework: week 6 multiplication, reading log, division practice
Code Word: Heroes
