The kids can come in right away in the morning rather than walking the circle so that we can make sure they are in costume and ready to go at 8:30. If your kiddo took their costume home on Friday, make sure they wear it Monday. The wax museum will start promptly at 8:30 in the library! All the kids will be going at once so you are able to just walk around, press any kiddo's start button, and they will come to life as the hero they researched. They have worked so hard and had so much fun with this project!
This week in reading we will be starting our next unit in Lead21. This unit is all about extreme environments and animal adaptations. I think the kids will love it, it's one of my favorite units! The skills we will be focusing on this week are: questioning, multiple meaning words, comparing and contrasting, and compound words.
In writing we are working on leprechaun stories. Their stories need to have the elements of a story: characters, setting, problem and solution. We are also working on trying to include dialogue in our stories.
In math this week we are working on a deeper understanding of equivalent fractions and comparing fractions. We are also taking some time to work again on multiple step story problems, and multiplying by multiples of ten.
In social studies this week we are starting to learn about the economy and supply and demand. In science this week we are working building a design to lift a load using a wheel and axle. The kids are excited to start building with our PLTW construction kits!
I look forward to seeing you at the wax museum!!
