We had a great week last week and learned more about our classroom routines and procedures! We also got to jump into academics, which is always exciting!
The week we have our NWEA and SRI testing. We will test each morning from about 8:30-10:30. I let the kids chew gum while we test as a little treat and mint gum has been proven to help our brains function!! I have gum here, but if the kids have a different type they like they are welcome to bring it. Please help your kiddo try to get a good night sleep and have a good breakfast in the morning!
With testing this week we will not have our normal reading lessons. We will still continue with math and we will be working on addition strategies such as the break apart strategy and using place value to add.
In writing we will start a friendly letter. In science we will look into how we can predict when it will storm and in social studies we will be doing a teamwork activity.
I still have a couple kiddos who haven't brought in a picture from home for me to hang up for the year. This was just to be a picture of them that makes them happy and can bring a smile to their face whenever they look at it. If you are able to send one in for your kiddo that would be great!
We have Open House this Thursday! It is from 6-7 and I will have two half hour sessions. One at 6:00 and another at 6:30. Come learn what your child is doing during the day and get a chance to learn a little more about me. I look forward to seeing you and having a chance to meet you again!
