This week is a short week due to MEA conferences for teachers. There will be no school on Thursday or Friday and Wednesday is an early dismissal at noon. There will be no lunch served on Wednesday, but your kiddo can bring a larger snack.
In reading this week we will finally present our unit 1 inquiry projects and start our unit 2 projects. We will also take a break from Lead21 this week and read some books that correlate with our science unit about Earth's water and the water cycle. We will be focusing on the skills of summarizing and determining the important information.
In writing we will continue working on our Drippy stories. The kids have been loving writing about Drippy traveling through the water cycle!
In math this week we will be making picture and bar graphs based on data. We will also be problem solving with data, and making line plots.
The only homework coming home this week will be a "Drippy" to decorate. The kids can decorate Drippy to match their story. This is just fun and does not need to be elaborate- I'll send home a description of the assignment in Tuesday folders. It will not be due back until Tuesday, October 22nd.
In science this week we are finishing up the water cycle, and in social studies we are making Billings brochures that tell the physical geography, climate, and natural resources of Billings. We will also take the time to research Montana's state bird, flower, and tree to add to our brochures.
