Last week we had some fun with a Halloween STEM activity. The kids had to build a "bone bridge" with limited supplies. Many of them learned that sometimes their first plan doesn't work out, but through perseverance many groups were able to come up with a product! Take a peak at the pictures under the "photos" tab.
In reading this week we will be looking at the essential question: How can people help animals survive? We will be focusing on the skills of rereading, author's point of view, and suffixes. In writing we will finally be starting our informational How-To pieces.
In math this week we will continue working on learning strategies for the different factors. So far we have learned strategies for 2, 4, 5, 10, 3, and 6. This week we will learn multiplying by 7 as well as learn about the distributive and associative property of multiplication.
In science we will continue our glider trials and in social studies we are working on making brochures all about Montana.
Friday will be a fun day. We get to watch the 4th grade Veteran's Day program in the morning and then in the afternoon we get to go to the Alberta Bair theater to see the play "Moon Mouse." We will leave the school at 11:50 and return at about 2:00. There will be a permission slip coming home in Tuesday folders and I need it returned asap!
I hope you all have/had a wonderful weekend! We have a nice relaxing weekend planned and I am pretty excited about that!
