In reading this week along with our novel study we will be focusing on the essential question: What do good citizens do? We will polish up our skill of determining the author's point of view as well as continue to ask and answer questions as a comprehension strategy. In writing we will finish up with our opinion pieces. We will also continue to do quite a bit of writing within our Wax Museum Biographies.
In math we will continue through Chapter 10 where we will be measuring liquid volume and mass. We will then have a test on this at the end of the week! The goal for ST math progress this month is to be 80% of the way through the program by April. For kiddos who are struggling to reach this goal I will be proving them some extra time during a few lunch recesses each week. As we begin to wrap up the school year I want to ensure that students are meeting their academic goals by creating as many opportunities to do so as possible!
In science we will begin building simple machines this week! Challenge your kiddos to point out any simple machines that they find around the house, store, etc. Rowan brought in an awesome video of a simple machine that she recognized on her bike! So awesome!! This will be a very fun project for the kids.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend and is able to get out and enjoy the sunshine!
