In reading this week we are continuing our unit about extreme environments. We will be reading a story called Hottest, Coldest, Highest, Deepest. We will be focusing on the skills of visualizing, classifying words, identifying the main idea and supporting details, and compound words.
In writing this week we are starting research for our compare and contrast paragraphs. The kids will get to choose two different extreme environments and then pick an animal from each of those environments. We will be looking into what adaptations that animal needs to survive in its extreme environment. This is also our next inquiry project.
In math this week we are working on time, measuring to the nearest inch, and learning about volume (liters and milliliters).
In science we will be experimenting a little with magnetic interactions and in social studies we will be learning about how the economy works with supply and demand.
With no school on Friday we will be having music on Monday, so please bring tennis shoes. The end of the quarter is this Thursday, so throughout the week we will be reassessing on a few math standards. With no school Friday we won't have any homework this week, but please read every night!!!
