In reading this week we will be focusing on the essential question: How can we reuse what we already have? We will be reading a lot of great realistic fiction stories that will tie in with this concept. We will continue to practice the skill of identifying point of view as well as practicing summarizing. Practicing these skills through conversations following any reading at home would be awesome additional practice! We will also be focusing homographs again this week. In writing we will continue with persuasive/opinion writing. This last week we wrote about our opinions on what the best pet to have would be! They had a lot of fun with this!
We wrapped up with fractions this past week and I am proud of the progress that so many of them made with those specific concepts in the last chapter. Fractions can be tricky!! In math this week we will begin a new chapter where we will learn about about time, length, liquid volume, and mass. This week specifically we will be focusing on time. Please continue to work on multiplication and division facts at home! ST math is also available for additional practice at home.
We will continue with research for Wax Museum this week. The students will be able to check out books from the library about their chosen individual as well. I will be sending home a letter regarding the information about the project and the date/time that students will be presenting their hard work! You can expect to find this in your child's Tuesday Folder. I am very excited that I will get to be here for this. It will be lots of fun!
Report cards went home today (3/8) so please be sure to check for those and sign/return them as soon as possible.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful weekend! It looks like the weather is shifting a bit so hopefully we wont have any snow days/delays to worry about this week! :)
