This week in reading we will be working on visualizing, cause and effect, and idioms. We will also take our spelling test from last week on Monday. In writing we are still finishing up our essays and then we will share them in author's chair. In math we will continue to practice our division skills with dividing by 8 and 9 and then working on some problem solving. We will also take our chapter 7 math test before we leave for break.
This past month we have been reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a class read aloud and on Thursday morning we are going to watch Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and compare it to the book. This is the 1971 movie, so with it being the old one I'm hoping a few more of the kids haven't seen it. It is also rated G.
On Thursday afternoon we are joining a couple of the 4th grade classes for a educational Christmas themed "breakout" (think escape room with the Grade Escape). One of the 4th grade teachers is putting one together and asked if we'd like to join. Essentially the kids will be solving math problems and riddles to find a code to unlock the lock box. We've never done one before, but I look forward to trying it!
