In reading this week we are starting Unit 3. Our big idea is: Why are individual qualities important? The essential question we are focusing on this week is: What makes different animals unique? The strategies and skills we will focus on are: visualizing, problem and solution, synonyms, and the genre of folktale. In writing we will finish up our explanatory essays and share them in author's chair. We will also start an opinion writing piece. In grammar we will focus on verbs.
In math this week we will continue to work on division by practicing dividing by 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8.
In social studies we are learning about what makes different communities diverse. In science we are learning about simple machines.
On Monday we get to watch the 4th and 5th graders compete in the Geography Bee. Our P.E. day this week will be on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday afternoon we have our dress rehearsal for the Christmas program. Thursday is the Christmas program, we perform at 10:00 and again at 1:30. The kids have been working really hard and their songs are so cute! I look forward to seeing them perform!
