This week we will be focusing on the skills of visualizing, determining the main idea with supporting details, categorizing and classifying, and reviewing compound words. We are on week 3 of Unit 6 and will continue to read about animal adaptations and use evidence to determine how they survive in the wild.
In math we are continuing to study polygons, triangles, and quadrilaterals. Later in the week we will dip into capacity, liters and milliliters, and grams and milligrams.
April is poetry month, and this week in writing we will finish up our compare and contrast paragraphs and then jump into our poetry unit! I love poetry and the kids really enjoy it too! This week we will work on cinquains. If they want to write more cinquains at home they should be about one thing or idea and the organization goes as follows:
2 syllables
4 syllables
6 syllables
8 syllables
2 syllables
Here is an example about summer:
Summer
Swim in the lake
Soaking up the sunshine
Easy, breezy, care-free all day
Can't wait
Can you tell I'm ready for nice weather??!! :) Anyway they are fun to write and the kids can even tell a story with their cinquain.
If you have a chance please check out your kiddo's kidblog posts. They have been working so hard and they are producing wonderful posts, I'm sure they would love you have you sign in as a guest and comment.
Have a wonderful week! Homework this week is a math comparing fractions page and their reading log.
