Reading will look a little different this week because we are taking the Lead21 benchmark test. We take this after every two units just to assess the skills we have learned within those units. We will be doing that on Tuesday and Wednesday morning. During this week we will also finish up our Unit 4 inquiry projects and present. With the olympics starting on Friday, I am tying in a unit on perseverance. I really want to get the kids to have an "I won't give up" mentality and apply that within the classroom and beyond. With our perseverance unit we will be reading books, doing some activities, and talking about Olympians who have persevered.
In math this week we are continuing to estimate and then will be moving into working on multi-step problems. When trying to solve multi-step problems the kids will have to use multiple operations to solve one problem, so we will really be applying our critical thinking skills and we will persevere!!
In science we are learning about the moon's rotation and phases. In social studies we are finishing up a unit on immigration and starting to learn about what makes a community diverse.
In writing this week we will finish up our descriptive essay, where the kids have been writing using their senses.
Have a wonderful week and enjoy the Super Bowl, it's looking like we are in for a great game!
