In reading this week we will be looking in to the role water plays in the story of Earth. We will be focusing on the skills of making connections, making analogies, and distinguishing fact from opinion. We we also review contractions.
In math we are finishing up the quarter with some more multiplication and division problem solving and some review of addition, subtraction, and area. We will be reassessing many of the standards we studied this quarter, just as a final check!!
In writing we are finishing up our planet reports and starting a persuasive advertisement. The kids will get to pick a product, real or made up, and write a paragraph trying to convince me to purchase their product. They will then get to make a poster or "ad" for their product.
In science we are continuing our study of the moon and looking into how much we would weigh on the moon. In social studies we are starting a unit on immigration, but taking a brief pause on Thursday to honor Martin Luther King Jr. as Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. day.
Homework this week will include a multiplication and division review page, reading log with summary, and multiplication fact practice (should be done every night).
The end of the quarter is on Friday. There is no school on Monday the 20th and report cards will go home on Thursday the 23rd.
