In reading this week we are starting Unit 3 in Lead21, The Shape of the Land. In this unit the kids will be reading to find answers to our theme question: How does geography shape a community? We will focus on the skills or questioning and paraphrasing. We will also spend time learning about noun suffixes. Throughout the week we will continue to work on our inquiry projects from Unit 2, the kids have chosen to do skits to share their information and they are turing out so great!! We are hoping to present on Friday.
In math we will start the week reinforcing time the the minutes and elapsed time. Then later in the week we will start thinking conceptually about division. We will start with division as sharing and then division as repeated subtraction. Please check out these videos to explain division as sharing and division as repeated subtraction. In writing we will be working stories to go with our art that came to life on Friday (check out the pictures under photos). The kids will have to use all the elements of a story to write about their art. They will need a setting, characters, pot, problem, and resolution. Believe fundraiser items come in this week. You can pick them up on Thursday in the music room from 2-6. Please remember to study your spelling words every night at home and it's always great to practice some math facts!! Have a wonderful week everyone!

All About Me
This school year will mark my seventh year of teaching and I must say I am so blessed to be a part of such a great community at Arrowhead school. I am excited to begin a new year with a wonderful group of kids!! I grew up in Helena and attended college in Bozeman, MT at MSU. Go Bobcats! While there I obtained a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Reading. In 2016 I received a masters degree in Education Leadership. Six years ago I married my high school sweetheart, Tymon. We also have a five year old adorable mini australian shepherd puppy, Molly. This year we are also welcoming our first child in February and we are so excited to be parents! When I am not teaching I love to be outside enjoying hiking trails or taking in a sporting event. CategoriesArchives
