We will combine reading for this week and next week as they will both be short weeks. So, for the next two weeks, we will be focusing on the essential question: How do you decide what is important? We will be practicing making, confirming, and revising predictions throughout our reading. We will also be focusing on determining the theme of different texts. For writing this week will be finishing up wax museum biographies and then taking some time to practice reading those to their classmates!
In math we will be digging a little bit deeper into understanding area. We will learn the strategy of using multiplication to solve for the area of a rectangle as well as finding the area of combined rectangles. I am really proud of the progress that so many students have been making with their ST math goals. Keep it up!!!
A few wax museum reminders- we will be making the posters at school this week so that is not something that you will have to worry about one bit! The only thing that we ask that students prepare at home, is a costume of some sort. Again, we do not want anyone to stress about purchasing a costume, this can simply be done by gathering items around the house. :) We have scheduled a couple of dress rehearsals to practice with an audience of other classrooms, one on the 23rd and one on the 25th, before the real deal on the 26th. We will do this in the afternoon, so students can bring what they have for a costume packed on those days to change into before the dress rehearsals. We would love to have a few parent volunteers to help us on the morning of the Wax Museum! This would be simply helping set up, take down, and help with any costume/prop issues that could arise throughout the morning. Of course you would absolutely be able to watch your own kiddo's performance throughout a few times throughout the morning as well. :) If this is something that you would be interested in, please let me know! Our third grade team would truly appreciate a few extra hands!
Thanks again for all of your help and support with this project. Your kids are doing such an awesome job and are getting awfully excited to share!
Enjoy the weekend!
